Right-wing People’s Party MEP for Denmark calls for the island of Kos to be mortgaged
Indeed, the crisis facing our country has at times given the right to various ridiculous «Euro-Idiots” to open their mouths and spew nonsense that exposes not only their own countries, but the whole ofEurope.
The ridiculousness of some of these MEP’s goes beyond the pale, such as the far-right Danish People’s Party MEP, who goes by the name Morten Messerscmid. This MEP, in an interview to an apparently similarly ridiculous newspaper in the country, proposed that the island of Kos, be put up
as collateral in return for approval by the country’s new aid package toGreece. Specifically he said that «if Greece wants to borrow again from the EU, then the party will require more drastic and non-traditional safeguards» and suggested the Danish government claim the island of Kos, as a mortgage loan. »We understand that Greece cannot provide security for the loans with cash, but you could, for example, allow us to mortgage the island of Kos, so that when Greece defaults, we can claim the tourist revenue”.
Because I think our Government or any politician worth his salt, will not concern him/herself,
(and rightly so) with this “idiot”, nevertheless it behooves us to communicate to this man that we shall not deign to honour his insults (previously I had made reference to a ruder suggestion above)
It is disheartening to think that we have given the right to any two-bit politician to disparage us. Perhaps we should make a counter-offer of some free holidays in Mykonos, that he will surely enjoy in order for him and others of his ilk to shut up.
